Program Overview

The MA is a degree designed to integrate theological studies and ministry work. It prepares students for academic studies in one or more theologically related disciplines and professionally for some religious leadership or service. For full-time students, it is a two-year program. The degree seeks to integrate theory and practice, academy and parish, private and public in a fully integrated educational process. The degree requires 36 credits for completion and includes six capstone course credits.

Course Format

The MA program requires the completion of 36 credits, encompassing core courses, electives, and a capstone course. The curriculum is divided into several key areas:

  • Theoretical Foundations (6 credits)

  • Religious Heritages (12 credits)

  • Specialization Core (6 credits)

  • Professional Core (6 credits)

  • Capstone (Thesis/Project) (6 credits)

Admission

Admission Requirements

Turner Theological Seminary requires a completed application, transcripts, personal statement, letters of recommendation, and an interview with an committee member. We welcome students from diverse backgrounds.

Degree Requirements

The prerequisite for admission to the degree programs is a bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent, from a college or university accredited by one of the nationally recognized regional accrediting agencies or the international equivalent.

Letter of Recommendation

One recommendation letter (Professional, Educational, or Ministerial).

Transcripts

Official transcripts of all college, university, or seminary records showing all courses pursued and grades received.

Essay

An autobiographical essay (should not exceed two pages), following the guidelines in the application.

GPA Requirements

A bachelor’s degree with a minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.00 scale or its equivalent.

Application Fee

$85.00 nonrefundable application fee.
